Faithful Fridays ~ The One

Hi again, Friday!

I started Faithful Fridays so that Christians could have one designated day a week (although I don't think they should keep it to just one day) to share something about their Faith--a prayer request, answered prayer, Bible verse, something God's laid on your heart, etc. To participate in Faithful Fridays, just grab the button above for your post along with a link to my blog somewhere in your post, too. After you've published your post, please come let me know in your comment that you participated and leave me a link to your blog. I'd love to come read your post!

My mama participates on her blog, Country Girl at Home...

Ms. Patty participates on her blog, Blessings Beyond...

and Rachel participates on her blog, Stand Out Don't Fit In.

                                               ~*~

It can often seem like you can't really do anything to make a difference in someone's life as a Christian, right?  I mean, I know sometimes I feel like I can't really be doing anything significant unless I'm in C*ina lavishing love on babies and silently letting Him show through me.

But, we often don't realize how we can make a difference in someone's life without knowing it.  Yes, you hear this a lot, but...just being nice to that girl that seems unaproachable; handing out smiles to random strangers at every chance you get--a kind word here or there--can make a difference!  But we have to try.

I love the song The One by Brandon Heath.

If I see one more light that's fading

Hear about one more broken dream
Pray for just one more faith that's dying
It's one too many

And if I see one more child walking
Just one more mile for water
If I wait one more minute longer
It's one too many
When I think of what could be
If we let our hearts believe
That it takes just one
Just one could turn this all around

And if we're living history
How will they think of you and me
If it takes just one, just one
What if, what if, what if I'm the one?

It takes one, takes one, one
It takes one, takes one, one
It takes one, takes one

If I hear one more widow crying
'Cause there's no one by her side
And if I see one more family breaking
It's one too many

If there's one thing that I'm sure of
If there's one thing that I know
You could be one in a sea of faces
Or you could be one more chance for hope

When I think of what could be
If we let our hearts believe
That it takes just one
Just one could turn this all around

And if we're living history
How will they think of you and me
If it takes just one, just one
What if, what if, what if I'm the one?

I see a nation without any walls
A beautiful haven for one and for all
I see a day when people are free
When shackles are broken and fall to the street
A voice, a cry, call out from on high
The first one of many, go lay down your life

When I think of what could be
If we let our hearts believe
That it takes just one
Just one could turn this all around

And if we're living history
How will they think of you and me
If it takes just one, just one
What if, what if, what if I'm the one?

It takes one, takes one, one
What if you're the one?
It takes one, takes one, one
It takes one, takes one
What if I'm the one?

It takes one, takes one, one
What if you're the one?
It takes one, takes one, one
It takes one, takes one

I love that--we could be one in a sea of faces or we could be one more chance for hope.  It's our choice.  And honestly, it's not that hard.  You don't have to ship off to another country (although you certainly can, if that's where God calls you!).  You don't even have to stand on a street corner and preach!  Just love.  Show love.  I don't mean smiling politely and helping someone up when they fall.  I mean really loving.  Loving the people we don't really want to be around.  The shy ones.  The "weird" ones.  The seemingly unapproachable ones.

For instance, there's a girl I know.  We'll call her Mila.  Well, Mila has a bit of a complicated family background.  She's shy and I think she's kind of insecure.  Anyway, every once in a while she comes out of her shell a little bit and on one such day she started talking to me.  I found that she is such a sweet girl and kind of read between the lines and realized that she was made fun of in public school before she homeschooled.

I began to see how we can make a difference just by being friends to the people we don't exactly "click" with.  Make an effort.  You can make a huge difference.  You might never know just how huge until we meet Jesus!

“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

Matthew 25:45

*I also recommend the movie The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry as it really relays this message.

God bless you!

Joy,

Another wonderful post! You know how I love this song too! And it's so true. We will never know just how many people our life touched until we reach heaven, so we keep on keeping on. We may be THE ONE they needed that day to turn their life around.

And it's amazing how the movie we watched last night went along beautifully with your post! Coincidence? I think not. :)

I love you, girlie! 10!

I have not been participating for some time now. Hope to be with you on Friday.

Although it is good to see how we make a difference in someone's life I think it is better for us to not know. As that famous guy wrote "lest I should boast"
Just being who we are in CHRIST is already bringing a difference. People know and feel when we are different. Not just weird, but when we are GODLY.

Like you say, we need to make an effort to be good especially to those we won't naturally go to.
