Faithful Fridays - Starting Point

Hi everyone!  Welcome back to Faithful Fridays!  It seems like it's been a while!  Boy, I (as well as my family members) have been under the weather.  It started pretty badly last Thursday night and all through Friday (yes, I've been sick for a week).  It's mostly been sinuses--nose stuff and very severe (miserable) headaches.  I'm usually not one to get headaches.  I just never really complain of them.  But these headaches I've been getting get me to where I can't function!  Anyhow, we went in to the doctor's office today and they gave me a shot (which I had dreaded...I have a fear of shots and such) and some medicine...I'm already feeling better!

Anyway, enough about me!  Let's get on with the post!

Have you ever heard the song by Casting Crowns, Slow Fade?  It's a great song.  There's lyrics in that song that coincide with this post very well.

The journey from your mind to your hands
Is shorter than you're thinking
Be careful if you think you stand
You just might be sinking


Imagine (visualize) this.  Your mind is a starting point (insert red flag on top of brain).  Whatever abides there starts oozing through your veins, down through your body, towards your heart and your hands.  It goes faster and faster, until it's zooming through your body and comsuming you. 

Now, there are only two types of this stuff that goes through you--this "fluid".

1. Dark fluid.  This represents all the evil things that Adam and Eve introduced to the world through their sin.  Lies, deception, pornography, bad language, and all other filth.  When this fluid reaches your hands and heart, it makes them cold, black, and icy.

2. Light fluid.  This represents all of the godly things that still abide on this earth (although there seem to be less and less).  This light fluid wonderfully changes, revives, and lifts you up.  You become closer to God.  His light begins to shine through YOU, like a lamp shade. 

Which fluid will you choose?  I come across people (goodness...at one time I might have been one) that claim to be a Christian, and they usually are, but they allow filth and dark fluid to enter their bodies--starting with their mind. 

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

-Philippians 4:8

Yes.  This is the light fluid.  These are the godly things.  True things.  Noble things.  Right things.  Pure things.  Lovely things.  Admirable things.  Excellent and praiseworthy things.  These are the things to think on.

I mentioned this to a girl once.  She tends to have a stronger mouth than most people do.  Don't get me wrong, she is a good person.  Anyway, after she used some of her vocabulary, I asked her not to say those things around me.  I explained this whole thing to her. 

Please, please examine yourself carefully.  Think about what you watch on TV (including commercials and such), what music you listen to, what you do on the internet, what blogs you visit, everything.  Please make sure that no dark fluid may be oozing through you, or even heading toward your mind.  Because the journey from your mind to your hands is shorter than you're thinking.

Your post is full of wisdom! It is so true that it all begins with thoughts and I do love that song too! I love Casting Crowns' lyrics! They know how to write songs! You have such a way with words!
