This is beautiful Sue, From BAAS.

Sue was born in March of '08. She has complicated congenital heart disease: Complex congenital deformities

The grandmother often takes her out and talks with her. Her development is delayed compared with others. She has routine life under excellent care, and has normal defecation and urination, and at the age of 5 months, she can smile when being teased, and at the age of 8 months, she can roll over and at the age of 12 months, she can sit alone and can walk with one hand held.

Her language development is delayed compared with others, and she can understand the simple directions, but she seldom expresses herself using language, and when she is happy she will say bao, bao, xie, hao.

She is introverted, timid, and has a strong sense of self-protection when she is with strangers. She has strong imitating ability and learning ability and is bright.
She is happy to stay with her caretaker. She likes to read books and listen to music. She claps her hands when listening to music, and she likes to play hide and seek game.

And this is adorable MeiMei, also from BAAS.

Meimei was born on 10-27-2003. She has Dwarfism.

She goes to school and loves to sing, dance and read. She is friendly and self-sufficient.

This is precious Cora, from AAC.

Cora is a darling little two year old. Her caretakers say that she is very clever. She likes watching TV and playing with toys but prefers to play with other children. Cora is developmentally on track. She is independant, feeds herself and is potty trained. One of Cora's eyes is underdeveloped. It is small and set back. She can see fine through her other eye though.

And this is sweet Megan, also from AAC.

Little Megan was born in April, '05. She is outgoing and likes to run, jump and play with other children. Her cleft lip and plate have been reparied and she has recoved from it well. She is developmentally on track and doing well in kindergarten.

And this is cutie Braden, also from AAC.

This cute little guy was born in September of '09. He is active, social and curious. His caregivers adore him. Braden was born with cleft lip and palate and is a hepatitus b carrier. He also has a black birthmark on the back of his head. He has no other medical conditions and Braden's physical and intelectual development are normal.

I'm sorry I haven't been posting much at all. I've got some posts in mind, but I like to get my waiting child posts done first! For now I'll leave you with this. :)

The Waiting Child by Debbie Bodie (From my friend's advocacy blog, Still We Wait.)
I saw you meet your child today.
You kissed your baby joyfully, and as you walked away with her I played pretend you'd chosen me. I'm happy for the baby, yet inside I'm aching miserably I want to plead as you go by, "Does no-one want a child of three?"
I saw you meet your child today. In love with her before you met, and as I watched you take her out I knew it wasn't my turn yet. I recognize you from last year! I knew I'd seen your face before! But you came for a second babe. Does no-one want a child of four? I saw you meet your child today, but this time there was something new. A nurse came in and took MY hand and then she gave my hand to you. Can this be true? I'm almost eight! And there are infants here, you see? But then you kissed me and I knew. The child you picked this time was me.

This Week's Waiting Kids!

This week I want to start out with some children who need to be sponsored.

Bill,

Gunner,

Brent,

Isabella,

Melissa,

Melanie,

and Shanna.

All of these children above need to be sponsored. For more information(and some of these children have sponsor packets set up and ready to go through another bloggy advocate), leave a comment with your email address. Note: I will not publish your comment after reading it if it has your email included, for your privacy. :)

This is sweet Lily, with BAAS. Lily turned two in September.

Her special needs are post operative congenital heart disease (valvular pulmonary stenosis); severe sensorineural hearing loss in both ears; tympanitis and mastoiditis in both ears. Lily's current height is 73.5cm, weight is 10.5kg, head size is 44cm and chest size is 50cm. She lives at the orphanage right now and her physical development is good. She can sit, stand and walk on her own. She can only say Ma Ma. She likes to be with people she knows, and likes to play with other children. She is a bright and lovely child.

This is cutie Jade, also with BAAS. She is ten. She was admitted into the SWI in April of 2000. She had cleft lip only and had surgery in December of 2000. Jade loves performing. She is friendly, outgoing and is very much liked by her teachers.

This is adorable Jeremy, from Lifeline. He is a year 1/2 old. He has a $1,500 grant available.

Jeremy has a meningocele.

And this is precious Joseph, from Lifeline. He is two. There is a $1,500 grant available for adopting Joseph, also.

His special need is scoliosis.

And this is beautiful Marissa. Marissa is my age(11), and was born a day before me!

She was listed and found a family with an agency last summer. When the CCAA decided that all files had to be returned and start the shared list, her found family could not proceed with her adoption and the agency sent her file back to CCAA. Don't know the circumstances of why the family could not proceed after having started an adoption for her. In her video that was available at the agency (CWA who will now not share the video), she sang a beautiful song, laughed, and seemed like such a wonderful girl. (From one of my mom's adoption friends)

She's also described as "just awesome!" :)

This is smiley Drew, from AAC. He is seven.

This sweet child is seven years old. He has cerebral palsy. He has some issues with walking. When we met Drew he was using crutches to get around, but he told us that he preferred a push walker. He is currently participating in physical therapy and doctors think that there is a good chance that he may be able to walk on his own some day.

He has good cognitive skills, however, he does have some catching up to do. Drew is a very imaginative boy. He likes to play outdoors. He also said that he likes to do his homework because the teacher gives them a treat!

And this is adorable John Wayne. John is two.

The following is from Ms. Donna of Eagle's Wings: He is 2 years old (April 2008). He was born with spina bifida and a club foot. The SB was repaired at about 6 months (I don't have those details). While I was his momma I had his club foot serial casted by China Care in Beijing. Awesome people. He was in Beijing for almost 6 months and while there fostered by a Canadian teacher and her daughter. Talk about great treatment! His foot healed nicely and he started to walk. (I think I read on a post from Ms. Donna that he is now running and jumping!)

Since being back at our foster home in his home city he has had some ups and downs with his foot. But he is still active and walking, nothing seems to keep him down. He is in a brace at night, and will be until he is about 5 yrs. He needs a family who can get him home fast and get great care for his foot. He is a terrific kid, I love him to bits.

If you are interested in any of these children or in sponsoring or advocating, leave a comment with your email. As Christmas is drawing near...remember the kids who don't have a big tree with presents, or a family to read them the Christmas story, or a stocking that can be stuffed with goodies. Keep them in your prayers this Christmas, please!

Blessings, Joy :)
Merry Christmas!

This Week's Waiting Kids!

Hi everyone!

I want to focus on a few kids this week...and I would like to direct you to the advocacy website. I've got it updated with a few more kids! You can visit it here.

First, a thirteen year old girl named Bella. I just came across this girl today. The following describes her situation better than I could, I think. :) It's from a blog who advocated for her, called 143 Million Less One. I tend to wonder why she's looking so sad. In basically all the pictures I've seen of her, she's wearing that face. :(

"When I was thirteen years old, I was still playing with Barbie dolls and washing off the "cooties" that were left behind when a boy touched me. I dreamed about one day becoming either a ballerina or a nurse or both. It was a simpler time and in my childhood innocence, I was still a little girl in every way. Which brings me to the beautiful child in the photo. Last week, I received an email from a mom who this past July adopted the adorable baby girl who used to sleep in the crib adjacent to our son in his orphanage. In her email, she told me about a beautiful, healthy little girl in China referred to as Bella, who if not matched with a family before her fourteenth birthday in February 2011, will permanently age out of the adoption process. Now, I don't know about you, but as a mother of a once thirteen year old daughter, I have had a very difficult time sleeping this past week just thinking about the uncetain reality of this little girl's future. That having been said, I implore each and every reader of this post to study this precious child's face. Think for a moment about your own children and then examine the longing in her lonely eyes. Most importantly, when you hit your knees this evening, PLEASE PRAY FOR BELLA. Ask your heavenly Father how he would use YOU to change her life for the better. Please forward this post to EVERYONE and ANYONE within your personal sphere of influence with the hope that SOMEONE would read this story and be touched by God to reach out to this child and bless her with the family and the future she deserves. For more information please contact kathy@wiaa.org and reference Child #4 'Bella'"

This is Sean. Sweet, smart, gentle, encouraging, dreaming Sean. Sean is eleven.

He is listed with FTIA's Journey of Hope program, where he has been for 2 years now. He's disappointed because he participated last year and wasn't adopted. Sean is one of the first kids I ever advocated for. Here's what's written about him:
"Sean is a bright 11 year old. He has been in a foster family for 4 years but desperately wants a forever family - maybe with an older brother and sister. He’s in 4th grade and his favorite subject is computer. He enjoys reading about science and technology and his favorite sport is soccer. Sean’s personality fills a room! He is great with the younger kids and was nicknamed the “Little Director” because he was keeping them all in line for their program. Sean was disappointed last year when he participated in another Journey of Hope program but did not find a family. He wants to live in America because everyone has a house! Sean was born with cleft lip and palate and has had surgery for both. He may need some reconstruction and some dental work; however his speech is excellent and he liked practicing his English on us! Click here to see a video of our interview with Sean."

And this is adorable Ben, who is also with FTIA's JOH program.. Ben is five.

Seriously-when they say "please watch this video," they mean it. Mom and I watched it, and, if I hadn't, I probably would be scared of thalessemia. But it's so mild! Please, take time to watch it. This is what's written about Ben: "Ben is 5 years old and a charming little boy. He has a diagnosis of thalassemia. The medical team was amazed at how well he is doing. At this time, he gets blood transfusions every two months and does perfectly between those transfusions. Again, we all were amazed at his overall health. Ben has excellent gross and fine motor skills. He is described by his caregivers as smart, the “little boss”, and cooperative. Ben came to his orphanage at the age of three. He is often the leader. His language development is on target. This friendly little boy has so much to offer. To learn more about thalassemia, please watch this video."

Please remember that some of these children may live in an orphanage where they are taken care of basically, but not not given one-on-one care. They sleep in rooms with metal cribs that line the walls and fill in the space in between. Couldn't you tell them about Jesus? Give them a good home? Dress them in pretty clothes? Give them a brother or sister? Read to them? Rock them to sleep?

If you are interested in one of these children, email the contact provided or leave a comment with your email address so I can get the info to you! I won't publish the comment, so it won't be public. If you are interested in advocating, leave a comment with your email address. I'd love to help you get started with some sites and kids who need to be spoken up for!

Blessings,

Joy :)

This Week's Waiting Kids!

This week, I want to start out with a little boy who needs a family-he very much so deserves one, just like every other waiting child-and I don't understand why he hasn't gotten one!

This is cutie Feng. He is 8 years old.

He enjoys his life with his peers, living, studying and playing games together. He is very outgoing, active, talkative and polite. Occasionally he is naughty. Every day after school he plays happily with his friends. He loves to chat with his teachers as well. He likes drawing, reading and watching TV. Feng is very bright and quick to learn.

He responds quickly to other people's words. He is in third grade. He is very conscientious in his study. He got 74% point in both Chinese and Math in the last tests. He has strong self-esteem and is very confident and independent.

He likes to express himself. He has a strong sense of justice and knows what is right and what is wrong. His aspiration is to become a policeman after he grows up. Feng is never a picky eater. He has a normal appetite. He sleeps well. He is very healthy and seldom gets sick.

This is sweet Annabelle, who is nine, and has been waiting for a while. There is a $4,200 grant if she is adopted through WACAP. Bright and brave is what they call Annabelle. :)

When we first met Annabelle in the Wuchuan orphanage in Guangdong, we learned that she had been diagnosed with cerebral palsy and was unable to stand or walk. She could only move herself with her hands, and she often sat in the corner sadly while the other children played. However, the orphanage staff told us how very intelligent she was and praised her great leadership skills, as all of the kids were willing to listen to her. LWB suggested that a wheelchair would allow Annabelle more independence, and so through our orphanage assistance program we were able to purchase a pediatric wheelchair, allowing Annabelle to get around more easily in the orphanage. We also knew that this bright little girl should have the opportunity to attend school, and she now attends the orphanage school every day.

Since beginning school, Annabelle’s whole outlook has changed. While at first she was shy with foreigners, now she smiles a lot. Her caregivers say how brave she is and that she is careful with other children. They are very optimistic about her future.Due to Annabelle’s medical needs, she is waiting to be matched with a family through the Waiting Children Program. Annabelle would benefit so much from the opportunities afforded to her by a family of her own. She so deserves a bright future that the care of a loving family could provide.

And this is pretty Rochelle, who also has a $4,200 grant if she is adopted through WACAP. Rochelle is posted as "Rochelle the Budding Artist".

Rochelle is a lovely four-year-old child with an artistic streak that she uses to express her sunny personality. Though she cannot stand or walk, she has very creative hands that can do wonders. Rochelle loves to draw colorful pictures of flowers and the sun! Her painting is full of creativity and features quite unusual shapes. Not wanting to limit herself to one art form, Rochelle is surprisingly good at paper-cutting (for a four-year old!) and can cut shapes such as flower baskets, planes and birds.

Rochelle’s artwork is a reflection of her sweet and loving personality. The nannies tell us that whenever a nanny is tired, Rochelle crawls to her side and gently pats the nanny on the back. So sweet!

This is precious Austin, who is five and listed with AAC.

This cute little guy just turned 5 years old. Austin is very, very clever. He does very well in school. At four years old he was able to speak clearly and produce long sentences to tell a story vividly. His teachers often ask him to recite poems. Austin is currently learning English also. People say that Austin is very opinionated and can express his likes and dislikes. He can sometimes be stuborn and obstinate but is polite. He is very well liked by his foster family, peers, neighbors, and teachers. He has several hobbies. He is very interested in drawing, music, and computer games. Austin has contracture of his achilles tendon. This is a shortening of the tendon causing him to be unable to put his heel to the ground while walking. He can walk and run but does so on his tiptoes. He is scheduled for surgery in January.

This is curly cutie Snow. :) She is three.

Snow was born in September. She has deformed hands and feet. She can walk, jump, run and pick up things without problems. She is a friendly and good natured child.

This is adorable Zach He's on the right.

Zach has club feet that have been treated, and may have dwarfism, and he is covered in scabbies and is malnourished. You can't tell it in the picture above. I'm told he's a loving boy! He does look like he's full of fun, doesn't he?

This is Jaxon, from FTIA's Journey of Hope program. He is six.

Jaxon is almost seven and in 1st grade. He is a good student, with Math and Chinese as his favorite subjects. He also likes to read. He is a very friendly boy and can carry on a conversation well.

He made a very colorful picture for the JOH team, complete with a house by water (with fish) and blue skies full of birds and butterflies! Jaxon is missing his left hand.

And Kung Fu Drake, who is almost seven. :)

Drake is a vibrant, resilient, and determined boy. At 7 years of age, he has mastered many tasks. He is at or above target in all areas of development when compared to other children his age. Drake has deformity of his left face and ear. His caregivers state that Drake has a higher IQ than most others. He is very athletic and enjoys martial arts.

He speaks very well and has good hearing. Drake will be in the 1st grade it the fall. Drake is fast paced, outgoing, and confident. Drake has so many strengths and wants to be part of a family!

If you're interested in any of these children, leave a comment with your email so I can get the info to you! Please keep them in your prayers!

Blessings,
Joy :)

This Week's Waiting Kids

I know there's alot of us who cannot adopt; but want to help, so I thought I'd list a few ways you can help.

1. Donating. There's bunches of places to donate to (click the names to go to the sites). Holt International is one, where you can now send a bunch of different gifts(like goats, cows, chicks, mosquito nets, stuff like that), some to specific places like China and Ethiopia. Also, there's An Orphan's Wish and Starfish Foster Home. You can also donate specific needed items. As far as I know, An Orphan's Wish and Starfish.

2. Volounteering. A good way to go about this is through Starfish Foster Home, which is listed above. The info for that is under "Daily Needs and Volounteering". I think you can also volounteer by getting in touch with the director of an orphanage and asking if they need volounteers. If you know of Anne of Red Thread, you can ask her to ranslate a letter/email and then ask her for the orphanage address(or if you have it then you can send it on in). You can also volounteer at New Day Foster Home (click the name to go to the volounteer site).

3. Sponsoring. You can do this through Starfish, Shepherd's Field, and New Day Foster Home (click the name to go to the sponsoring page) easily.

4. Fostering. Unfortunately, I don't know where you go to do this...but I do know a lady who goes to China every now and then to foster some children, so that's a way.

So without further ado, here's a few of the children who need families!

Three Beautiful Starfish children are special focus kids waiting on their forever families. Jack, Kaitlyn, and Thomas all need families. My friend has the agency they are listed with for anybody who would like to know all 3 are with a different agency and 2 of the 3 would transfer no problem.

Jack was born November 2007 and has Spina Bifida, Micro/Macro cephaly he has had surgery for both and is waiting on an agency specific list with a 4200 grant towards his adoption cost! This little boy stole my friend's heart!!

Precious Kaitlyn was born October 2007 and was born with Meningocele at the base of the neck. Kaitlyn needs a mom and Dad who are willing to accpect the unknown she is generally a very happy girl but everyone knows when she is upset.

Sweet Thomas was born July 2008 he was born with TOF (first surgery complete will need another one) and an exposed bladder which is on the less severe side. He is a darling little boy who needs a family and a mom and dad willing to fix his heart he has so much love to offer. His TOF does not hold him back he is able to do most things any other child his age can do. My friend has Thomas's medical file.

This is cutie Luke, a Special Focus child through FTIA. Look at those eyes!!

Luke’s special need is clubfoot and mild cerebral palsy.
Luke arrived at the clubfoot casting unit in August 2010. After settling in, he soon began charming the carers and earned his nickname of Mr. Happy. He is a giggly little boy who loves to go around on his tricycle. Luke just had surgery to repair a hernia in his diaphragm and is doing well. We are looking forward to seeing him gain weight, grow and to continue with the casting treatment for his clubfoot. He brings much joy to the House of Love and would bring much joy to his family too.

This is Snow, from BAAS. Can you believe that curly hair?? And what a little grin!

Snow was born on 10-9-2007. She has deformed hands and feet. She can walk, jump, run and pick up things without problems. She is a friendly and good natured child.

This is a little girl from Holt who is eleven. Her ID number is G10_91.

This beautiful, shy young lady with dimples is currently in a loving foster home. She can say a few simple words in English, and enjoys surfing the internet, watching TV, and drawing. She was found in February 2000 with a birth note that stated she had epilepsy, and she entered foster care in January 2001. She was noted to have seizures often and began taking medication to control them, and has been seizure free for over 3 years. An EEG test result was normal. She is currently in the 5th grade of elementary school, and her grades are stated to be poor. She has more than 5 very good friends who help each other when they have problems. She is very attached to her foster family and loves to help with house chores such as washing dishes and clothes. This older girl is in need of an adoptive family who has experience with adoption and parenting past her age, who are prepared for grief and loss issues, and who are able to provide and advocate for the resources that she needs.

Don't forget the children who need to be sponsered, like...

Lexi,

Gunner,

And Shanna

And thank you for your prayers and blessings...because Zoe, Penny, Landon, Liam, Kent, and Jillian have found their families!

If you are interested in any of these children, leave a comment with your email address.

Also check out my advocating website, Waiting on Their Family.

Thanks so much, please continue to search your hearts...for the orphans!

Blessings,

Joy
